20th – 24th August

Tuesday – Saturday 7.00pm

Written & Performed by Francesca Forristal
Directed by Micha Mirto

Musical Comedy Awards 2019 Finalist, Francesca Forristal “uses humour as a feminist weapon” (The Sunday Times) in this disarmingly candid, very funny insight into the
messier elements of eating disorders and NHS inpatient wards. Oddball emerged from Forristal’s experience with anorexia, inpatient treatments, and a heart attack at 19-years-old. She’s been on the BBC radio & at the Edinburgh Fringe… now witness her Camden
Fringe Debut!

All Oddball has to do is behave like a normal person on a date. Easy. It’s in a restaurant though. Restaurants have food. And other people. Food and people. She might pull
her skin off with pliers. That’s normal… right? Putting the ‘logical’ in ‘pathological,’ this one woman show invites audiences into the brain of a person with an eating disorder, to explore thought processes which – quite frankly – don’t always make sense from an outsider’s perspective. Oddball uses sound-design, silliness, and zero respect for the 4th wall to debunk stigma surrounding a disorder which is still misunderstood as ‘vain.’ No romance. No romcom crisisrecovery arc. That’s been done. And it’s rubbish. ‘It’s 2019. We are all pretty good at talking about mental health, depression, anxiety, addiction. But I cringe every time I have to explain why I was in and out of hospitals from the age of 13-20… That’s not cool.’ [Francesca Forristal]

It’s time to change the narrative. Now all Oddball has to do is deconstruct every toxic preconception society has on eating disorders – in 60 mins. Piece of cake… Wait.

Running time 75 minutes – no interval
