After a five-star, sellout run at VAULT Festival 2023, IN CLAY, a “perfectly formed and expertly polished” (The Reviews Hub) new musical returns to London for a strictly limited run.
Based on a true story, this “heartfelt, charming new musical” (Everything Theatre) is told from a quaint Parisian apartment in the late 1930s. Marie-Berthe Cazin, a ceramist in her early 40s, eagerly awaits her estranged childhood friend, and now celebrated artist, Henrietta Tirman. Her imminent arrival pushes Marie to reflect on the great joys and sorrows of a life devoted to making art.
THE MUsIC
IN CLAY features a thrilling jazz-manouche score played by our wonderful four-piece band. The piece was shortlisted for an Offies OffFest Award, the Stiles & Drewe MTI Mentorship Award and the Best New Song Prize 2023 in the last year alone
Hailed “a truly magnificent storyteller” (Lost in Theatreland) for the VAULT Festival production, Rosalind Ford reprises her critically-acclaimed performance as Marie Cazin. The fantastic Eleanor Walsh (Heathers UK Tour) joins the cast as the alternate.
